The boat and the sea things at the bottom of the board.
This device asks for reduced motion — on Auto, the water holds still.
Calm, breezy or windy water, picked at each bell. Calm is the lever for testing days.
Decoration at the edges by the calendar — never on a timer face, never during a bell routine. Off on November 1 by itself.
Sound & clock
Bells
The week rotation picks this (below).
Nudge shifts only the bell math, never the clock. The warning turns the countdown coral and pulses the bar; 0 turns it off. The comment-card reminder fills the screen with the names of anyone who still owes a card from this class — tap a name when it is handed in; off, the cards are still in the log.
Week rotation
Weeks alternate between the first two week types from the anchor Monday, counting school weeks: a week with no school days (Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break) doesn’t flip the colour. A week with a single holiday still counts. Tapping a chip on the home screen still overrides for the day; Wednesdays switch times on their own.
Clock readout
What the clock shows under the time. “Next class after hours” counts down to the next school day once the last bell has rung.
Settle-in at the bell
The clock becomes the count when a class begins (Lunch excepted), then hands off to a Slides card if the scene has one. While it runs, Space restarts it and R stands it down. A scene needs a clock to run it. Music in passing time starts when a class lets out and fades away during the settle-in, gone before its last ten seconds tick (with no settle-in, it fades over ten seconds at the bell). It stays quiet while the Music card is already playing; the Now Playing pill pauses it.
Wrap-up at the bell
A song for the wrap-up
None
The clock takes the stage with the time to the bell, the exit ticket, the checklist (tap a line to check it off) and the rule; at the bell the face comes back. R stands it down for that period. The song plays from the beginning when the wrap-up comes up and fades out at the bell (R, Sound Off and the Now Playing pill stop it too). It is kept on this computer only — never in the file, a download of your board or the public copy.

Timer
One to six values, separated by commas. These are the chips on every timer and the ⏱ menu in stage mode.
How the time left is drawn behind the digits.
Needs a Music card on the board. The music stops when the timer ends or pauses.
Rosters
One box per period — first names separated by commas or new lines. The name picker and group maker follow the bell schedule; leave a box empty to skip that period. To move a student, cut the name from one box and paste it into another.
Pulls first names by period number into the boxes below, from the Seating Chart’s data or from the roster Cadence keeps — whichever this browser has. Apply to keep them. A board that has never had rosters looks by itself when it opens and says what it found.
Privacy: an exported copy carries student names inside it — keep exports in your own Drive and never upload one to the public website (GitHub).
Schedules
Up to four week types, each with regular times and, optionally, Wednesday times. Leave a week type with no regular blocks to remove it; leave Wednesday empty and Wednesdays use the regular times. Times run 6:00 AM to 5:59 PM.

Export a copy
Downloads a full copy of Deckhand with these settings, layout and rosters baked in. Keep it in your Drive as a backup, or open it on another machine to move the board there. Same file name each time, so the browser offers to replace the old copy.
Use this file’s settings
Forgets everything saved on this device — layout, bells and rosters — and reloads with the settings baked into the file you opened. Two taps, and Export first if you are unsure.
Import a board
Brings in a board from an exported copy of Deckhand (the file Export a copy makes) — layout, bells, rosters and all. This is how the board moves from the Drive file to the web address, or from one machine to another. It replaces what is saved here; you are asked once more before it does.
Privacy
Rosters stay on this device with everything else. An exported copy carries the student names inside it — keep exports in your own Drive, never on the public website.
